Warriors have eight selected for MCAA all-league wrestling teams
After one of its most successful seasons ever, the Marion High School wrestling team had two representative on the Mid-Central Activities Association first team, and six on the honorable mention squad.
The league does not have a second or third team.
Adam Regnier (130-pounds) and Derek Riggs (215) were honored as members of the 14-player all-league first-team.
Regnier, a junior, was 29-10 on the season with 17 pins, and a team-high 36 reversals.
The senior Riggs was one of three Warrior wrestlers to reach the 30-victory plateau after finishing the season 30-11.
His 19 pins and 23 escapes were team highs.
Dillon Wildin, a sophomore who placed sixth at state in the 135-pound class, led the way for Marion on the honorable mention team.
His winning percentage of 76.9 (30-9) was the highest on the team, and he also led in two-point near falls with 15.
Cody Wildin (125), Tylor Neil (140), Charlie Holub (145), Hank Collett (152), and Andy Shipman (119) each earned honorable mention status as well.
Holub was the team leader in victories during his final season with a record of 32-10.
He also led Marion with 49 takedowns.
Fellow senior Collett earned nine victories in his final season, finishing out his career with a total of 44.
Sophomore Cody Wildin was near the top of the team with 26 victories against 11 losses.
He was first on the team in three-point near falls with 23.
Neil, another in the talented sophomore class, was 22-16 on the season, and registered 11 pins.
Shipman earned the honors after finishing his freshman campaign with a 23-17 record and 16 pins.
Dillon and Cody Wildin, Holub, Shipman, and Neil all qualified for the 3-2-1A state tournament.
