Warriors softball team loses to Herington
Marion High School Warriors softball team lost Thursday to Herington. A scheduled double-header, the second game was canceled and will not be rescheduled.
After a scoreless first inning, Herington put two runs on the board in the second. Both teams added three runs in the third inning, followed by a scoreless fourth.
Marion didn't give up and added one run in each of the fifth and sixth innings. Herington added four runs in the fifth, to make the score 5-9 at the bottom of the sixth. Marion added two runs in the seventh but it wasn't enough for the win and Herington clinched the game, 7-9.
Whitney Wear put two runs on the board for Marion, while Caitin O'Dell, Sarah Williams, Emmy Bowers, Leann Thomas, and Morgan Cady added one run a piece.
The Warriors traveled Monday to Lyons for first round regionals.
