Wayne Annis Jr
Wayne R. Annis Jr., 81, died May 20, 2004, at Newman Regional Health Center, Emporia.
Born Jan. 1, 1923, at Solomon, he was the son of Daniel and Helen (Jamis) Annis.
On Jan. 1, 1952, he married Faye Parks Brown at Abilene. She died in 1992.
He was employed by the U.S. Corps of Engineers, Marion Reservoir before retiring 15 years ago. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Arie #2587, Emporia.
He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; a brother, Carl Annis; and a sister, Marie Michaels.
Survivors include two stepsons, Larry Brown of Emporia and Chuck Brown of Colby; a son, Danny Annis of Mesa, Ariz.; three daughters, Linda Scarberry of Emporia, Helen Hill of Gilbert, Ariz., and Carla Engler of Burdick; two brothers, Dean Annis of Abilene and Gene Annis of Colorado Springs, Colo.; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Tuesday morning at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Olpe, with Pastor Jack Waterman officiating.
A memorial fund has been established with Emporia Friends of the Zoo.
