Wedding: Bethany and Eric Carlson

Bethany Linda Baker and Eric Michael Carlson were united in marriage at 6 p.m. June 5, 2004, at Council Grove First Baptist Church. Pastor Brian Anderson, Manhattan, officiated during the double-ring ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Roy and Linda Baker of Council Grove. The groom is the son of Ronnie and Susan Carlson of Lincolnville.

Grandparents of the bride are Clarence and Maria Baker and Walter and Marie Wood of North Carolina and Terry Griffin of Mississippi. The groom's grandparents are Joyce and Ruth Ann Carlson of Lincolnville.

Escorted down the aisle by her father, the bride wore a white, matte satin, strapless A-line Signature Design gown. The bodice, hemline, and cathedral train were adorned with alencon lace. The lace sparkled with hand-sewn pearls and sequins on centers of five-petaled lace flowers. She was crowned with a crystal and pearl encrusted tiara and a pure white two-tiered, satin ribbon-edged fingertip veil. She carried a bouquet of white roses, lilacs, and baby pink carnations arranged in a silver holder.

Tory Jost of Manhattan was the matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Nicole Hornbaker of Copeland, and Susan Nye and Kristin Huerter of Manhattan. They wore matching lilac, satin A-line gowns and carried lilac, baby pink, and white carnations in matching silver bouquet holders.

Tracey Baker of Topeka, sister-in-law of the bride, and Courtney Pretzer of Council Grove, lighted the candles before the ceremony.

The groom wore a silk lapeled, black tuxedo with a woven silver satin vest and a white rose boutonniere.

Lucas Carlson of Wichita, brother of the groom, was the best man. Groomsmen were Justin Huynh of Manhattan, Jonathan Herbel of Salina, and Jason Baker, brother of the bride.

Seth Martin of Manhattan and Brandon Hanschu of St. Louis were ushers. The groomsmen and ushers wore black tuxedos with silver vests and lilac carnation boutonnieres.

Amber Bacon of Council Grove was the flower girl. Her brother, Matt Bacon, was the ring bearer.

Natalie Carlson of Winfield and Valerie Rock of Manhattan greeted guests.

Dale Powell read Bible verses and Pastor Brian Anderson gave the wedding message.

Musicians were pianist Andrea Carlson, vocalist Allison Spillman, vocalist and guitarist Ben Deaver, and trumpeter Jennie Throne.

Nancy Laudemann of White City was the wedding coordinator.

A dinner and dance followed the wedding at Morris County Fairgrounds building. Reception host and hostess were Duane and Karen Carlson of Lincolnville.

Andrea Meyers of Topeka and Allison Shields of Lincolnville served as gift attendants. Wedding cake servers were Morgan Ruhnke of Kansas City, Julie Noeth of Tampa, Erin Myers of Topeka, and Brooke Carlson of Lincolnville.

The couple traveled to Niagara Falls for their honeymoon. They are at home in Manhattan.

The bride, a graduate of Council Grove High School, is a teacher at White City. She is completing a master's degree in special education from Kansas State University. The groom, a graduate of Centre High School, is a senior at Kansas State University majoring in mechanical engineering with a minor in business.
