Weekend of activities marks Kelsey s 80th birthday years ago

Members of Viola Kelsey's family attended dinner Saturday evening at Grand Central Hotel in Cottonwood Falls to celebrate her 80th birthday.

The group enjoyed having family portraits taken and viewing a video showing Viola's life. The video was created by her granddaughter, Heather Rathert.

On Sunday, 34 family members, including some grandchildren and her brother, Earl and Lucy Janzen of Peabody, attended church with Viola.

Lunch was prepared and served by family members at the home of Max and Donna Hayen.

Forty-five were present for the meal, including Viola Kelsey, Donna and Max Hayen, Bill and Jamie Shirley and McKenzee, Katie Hett, Brent and Paula Hayen, Gerald and Sharon Kelsey, Neva Hett, Lori and Kevin Fruechting, Amanda, Erin, and Brian, and Randy and Kodi Kelsey, Josh and Emmali, all of Marion.

Bud and Tressie Kelsey, Kevin Kelsey, Scott Kelsey, Hillsboro; Deena and Bethany Hawkinson and Lori Kelsey, Jeremy, Andy, and Samantha, Marquette; Ron and Linda Kelsey, Hiawatha; Doug and Mary Kelsey, Miranda, Josh, Cade, and Regan Schmick, all of Solomon.

Jordan Kelsey, Michele Stecklin, Hays; and Kathy and Mark Rathert and Heather, Greenwood Village, Colo.

In the afternoon, additional guests arrived to visit and help Viola celebrate.

They included Earl and Lucy Janzen, Forrest and Bea Kelsey, Bill and Louise Janzen, Norma Woerz, Evelyn Mott, Ellen Darrow, Vivian Conyers, Terry and Linda Schmidt, Carl and JoAnn Helm, Mick and Marge Summervill, Betty Thompson, Virginia Downing, and Marilyn Geis.
