Wheat harvest begins early
harvest which generally begins about June 20 already is underway in the Marion area.
Cooperative Grain and Supply at Marion received its first load of wheat Friday from Tim Summervill. It tested at 14.1 percent moisture and 61 pounds per bushel.
On Monday, the elevator received about 6,000 bushels.
Manager Mike Thomas said he expects an average harvest at about 35 bushels per acre.
