Wichita connection leads to arrest of Florence man

A Florence man was arrested Jan. 16, and accused of sexual abuse.

Johnathon Don Schultz, 33, was arrested by Florence Police Chief Conroy Miller after the Marion County Sheriff's Department was contacted by the Missing and Exploited Children's Unit of Wichita.

According to Marion County Sheriff Lee Becker, through the unit's investigation they had learned that allegedly one or more children were sexually abused by Schultz.

Based on that information, a search warrant was issued from Marion County District Court at the Florence residence.

Evidence of the crimes was collected which led to the arrest of Schultz.

A follow-up investigation revealed there was no wrong-doing by Schultz's wife and mother of the children, so the children were returned to her.

Other arrests were made in Wichita that were connected to this case.

The charges against Schultz include rape, aggravated sodomy, and child endangerment.

He is in the Marion County Jail with a $100,000 bond.
