Winter homecoming festivities Friday at Centre High School will be bittersweet as memories linger of a well-liked student who no longer is among them.

Lance Selznick, son of Dan and Karen Selznick, Lincolnville, was chosen to be a king candidate before he was fatally injured Jan. 9 in a vehicle accident. He has been named as an honorary candidate.

The homecoming theme is: "Take Me There," by Rascal Flats. Colors are purple, silver, and black.

Best Sound Around will provide music for the dance.

Queen candidates are Samantha Alvarez, daughter of Becky Alvarez, Lincolnville, and the late Sam Alvarez; Amy Hajek, daughter of John and Carla Hajek, Tampa; and Justine Jennings, daughter of Jen Jennings and Greg and Darlene Hubbard, Lincolnville.

King candidates are: Andrew Carlson, son of Glenn and Sandy Carlson, Burdick; Michael Kaiser, son of Dawn and David Kaiser, Lincolnville; and Tye Remy, son of Tom and Lynley Remy, Lost Springs.

The coronation will take place during the halftime of the boys' varsity game against White City.
