Winter homecoming set for Friday

This week marks Marion High School's Queen of Courts homecoming celebration.

All week high school students will be showing their school spirit by participating in different dress-up days, such as Hawaiian Day, Pajama Day, and Red and Blue Day.

The annual, "Beating of the Dummy," where a stuffed Nickerson Panther will learn what happens when he crosses the path of a Marion Warrior, will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.

There will be "Battle of the Classes" competitions as well as skits by the candidates.

Friday afternoon there will be a pep assembly in the high school gym with skits hosted by the MHS cheerleaders.

Later that night the king and queen will be announced. Unlike the past, the ceremony will take place between the girls' and boys' basketball game around 8 p.m.

The six candidates this year are: king: Jake Smith, Josh Smith, and Nick Carlson. Queen: Katie Zogelman, Briana Vogel, and Molly Rhodes.
