Women s wellness workshop planned for Nov. 5 in Marion

The 2005 Marion County Women's Wellness Workshop will be held from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Nov. 5 at Marion Elementary School, 1400 E. Lawrence, Marion.

The event is free, including lunch, and registrations are due by Oct. 28.

This year's theme is "Making Life's Pieces Fit," and includes Dr. Kathy (Goodin) Bosch as the keynote speaker.

Bosch is a faculty member at the University of Nebraska and is a family life specialist and assistant professor in family and consumer sciences.

She served as a county extension educator for 13 years in Marion County. She earned her doctorate from Kansas State University in family life education and consultation, family studies, and human services.

The title of her address is "Picking Up the Pieces When Life Seems to Fall Apart." Bosch will share insights about tapping into faith, strengths, and informal and formal resources required to pick up the pieces.

Other presenters will include Lynne Fruechting on obesity in children; Kay Carlson, recording life through creative self-expression; the Rev. Billie Blair, practical ways to find peace through religion; Nancy Methvin, the history of quilting; Nancy Pihl, chocolate; Katherine Mick, ways to communicate with children; and Sally Bailey, drama therapy.

Childcare will be provided and a children's workshop will be offered.

Registration is at 8:30 a.m. with the workshop beginning at 9 a.m.

The annual workshop is sponsored by Marion County Extension office, Communities In Schools of Marion County, St. Luke Hospital, and Hillsboro Community Medical Center.
