Rosalene and Charles Stinchcomb went Sunday to Hillsboro United Methodist Church to watch Ryan Janzen, son of Anne and Ray Janzen, receive a God and Country Scout award. This is an award that takes many hours of learning about the church and many hours of church service. Ryan is to be congratulated for all the hours spent earning this award. Dr. Charlie Stinchcomb was the speaker.

Norman and Doris Friesen from Shafter, Calif., spent Monday with Leonard and Rosalie Klassen. Burt and Alice Jost visited Tuesday evening with the Klassens. Vernon and Rachel Friesen hosted a Wednesday night homemade ice cream supper for their daughter and her son, Serita and Ron Henery, Leonard and Rosalie Klassen, and Norman and Doris Friesen. Delores Friesen had open-heart surgery Sunday morning and is doing well.

Maxine Cunningham from Lincoln, Neb., visited Jeannine Bateman this weekend and they spent Sunday afternoon in Lindsborg. Maxine had never been to Lindsborg even though she grew up in Kansas.

Vicki Smolik and Edmund Steiner attended the 40th wedding reception and dance Saturday honoring Jim and Rosalie Rudolph at the Pilsen Community Center.

Clint and Diana Jost hosted Sunday dinner for Cy Goertz, Naomi Nelson, and James Jost.

Cy Goertz, Leonard Klassen, Ray Davidson, David Bowers, and Max Hayen ate lunch together Wednesday at the senior center and, after dinner, enjoyed the piano-organ program presented by Donna Hayen and Lenore Dieter.

Max and Donna Hayen visited Dorothy Hayen Sunday evening at St. Luke Living Center.

Dorothy Hayen, Virginia Downing, Shirley Bowers, Eleanor Davidson, Rosalie Klassen, and Rose Olive Hett were my Wednesday luncheon guests. We visited until about two and Dorothy said we should do this again soon. Dorothy had wanted to see my house so I had all the Youngtown ladies over to see it at the same time.

David and Shirley Bowers helped John and Bev Goering Sunday afternoon with the church services at Marion Manor and St. Luke Living Center.

Mary Beth and Greg Bowers have been busy with harvest this past week. They have finished, but Charles Kjellin has a small patch that is too wet to cut. Most of the farmers in the Youngtown area have completed their harvest. I know it was a struggle with all the rain this year. The rain has been good for the corn and sowed feed and the fields look great when driving through the countryside.

Eileen and Skip Sieger finished harvest Saturday. Eileen attended the last of the Healthy Fit programs that have been on-going since November. The participants have been eating healthy and exercising. She said she had lost 17 pounds and lowered her cholesterol 20 points during the classes.

I joined Betty Ireland, Wayne and Kayla Ireland, Kimberlee and Mark, Marj and Emily Johnson, John and Tom Ireland from Enid, and Tim and Sandy Ireland, Craig and Jill from Stillwater on Sunday at the Burns Community Building for the annual Ireland-Larsen reunion. The Larsens hosted this year. I ate dinner with Ruth Aubuchon of Eureka. Ruth was one of the last teachers to teach at the Youngtown school. She always asks about Dorothy Hayen and considers her one of her best friends. Ruth has just had cataract surgery but was able to drive over from Eureka.

I got home before the big rain and was glad I didn't have to drive in it.
