Kelly Sorenson of McPherson, Amber Wagner of Newton, and Kami and Eric Van Campen and Parker of Holcomb came Wednesday evening to see Leonard and Rosalie Klassen's home that is being built. Vernon and Rachel Friesen came Thursday to see the Klassen home. Friday night Andy and Bonnie Friesen also came by to visit and see the new home. Leonard and Rosalie met Ken and Doris Shultz of Port Mill, N.C., and Elmer and Leonore Klassen of Newton in McPherson Sunday noon to eat dinner together and visit.

Roseva McLinden went to Hillsboro Thursday evening to watch her granddaughter, Lauren McLinden show her 4-H calf. Lauren earned reserve champion in sewing and a purple ribbon for her booth. Richard and Patty McLinden and Roseva attended the 50th wedding anniversary reception Sunday afternoon honoring Patsy and George Waner at St. Mark's Activity Center.

Mary Beth and Greg Bowers attended the Goessel Threshing Days this past week. Mary Beth did a puppet show Saturday at the Marion County Fair. Bryce Bowers was a week long guest of the Greg Bowers family. He got involved in a lot of farm chores while visiting. Phyliss Dettmer and daughter, Debbie Firth, and Debbie's son, Jonathan were visitors Monday at the Bowers farm. Jonathan is Luke's age and came to visit him. They, too, will be involved in farm work.

Glen and Pam Hett, Samantha and Kyle took Rose Olive Hett to the annual Hett family reunion Sunday noon at the county lake.

John Hayen and Virginia Downing took Dorothy Hayen to McGillicuddy's Sunday for dinner.

Virginia Downing watched her granddaughter, Leann Thomas, show her 4-H horse and steer. She took grand champion in both events and also won the barrel race. Marilyn Geis watched her granddaughters, Lauren and Lisa Geis, show horses and a bucket calf. They did well in all events.

Shirley Bowers counted write-in ballots at the courthouse Friday night. Saturday dinner guests of Shirley and David Bowers were Greg Bowers, Randy and Betsy Bunnel, Kelli and Joshua, Janelle and Doug Paden, Abigail and Jonathan of Newton, and Carl and Lela Paden of Topeka. Daniel and Kim Bowers, Bryce and Breanna, Luke Bowers, and Kylie Powell visited Sunday evening with David and Shirley Bowers.

Edmund Steiner and Vicki Smolik attended the open house reception Sunday afternoon at St. Mark's Activity Center, honoring the 50th wedding anniversary of George and Patsy Waner. Lorraine Havlik visited Wednesday evening with Vicki Smolik. Vicki went to Strong City this past Monday and spent the day with Kandace and Kassidy Griffin.

Marj Johnson brought Ethan to my home early Friday morning and returned to Wichita to work. Ethan has been doing chores for me. Don and Carol Caufman of Wichita brought Bridget, Katie, and Kevin Ireland from Missoula, Mont., Friday evening to visit me for a few days. The Montana Irelands, Ethan, and I attended the demolition derby Saturday evening at the Marion County Fair. The kids enjoyed the affair and I'll just say "it was an experience for me." Marj Johnson and Emily joined us Sunday morning for a late breakfast and visiting. Joe Johnson brought his boat out around noon and took the kids to the reservoir. I took dinner to them, then we returned here for showers and to gather up luggage to return to Wichita for the night and catch a 5 a.m. bus to Missoula Monday morning. Bridget Ireland is in the National Guard. She received orders to report Sept. 6 for three months training and then to Iraq in January.

Ken and Margie Nienstedt went to Hillsboro Wednesday evening to watch the county fair parade.

Ray and Rita Kraus attended the open house Sunday afternoon honoring George Waners' 50th wedding anniversary at St. Mark's Activity Center. Brendan and Tina Kraus visited Ray and Rita Sunday evening.

Faye and Jerry Makovec attended the Oborny/Schroeder wedding Saturday at Hays.
