Those of us who enjoy walking for health are somewhat inconvenienced by property owners who fail to clear their sidewalks of snow and ice. Our mail delivery people also are imperiled by these hazardous walking surfaces.

I read with interest that the county commission gave pay raises to themselves and elected officials. The $72,000 they gave to the WRAPS program would have been a nice pay raise for the rest of the county employees.

Aren't our elected officials supposed to do what is best for our city? If so, why did Councilman Holdeman vote in favor of building a building at the industrial park, vote to sign a contract with the contractor, vote to sign a lease agreement with our three banks and then, at the last council meeting, vote not to pay the contractor for the building? Ask yourself, is this good business? What type of message does that send to contractors the city does business with? Thank God for the other three councilmen and mayor.

City workers did a wonderful job clearing streets following the latest snowstorm.

With election coming up, will the mayor be delivering meals on wheels again?
