Thanks to the hard-working county road and bridge employees who got up in the middle of the night last weekend to clear snow.

The liberal media from daytime to late night is only moments away in succeeding in accomplishing its goal of brainwashing the American people.

***

Thanks to two hard-working elected county officials — Faye Makovec and Carol Maggard. Your long years of service and dedication show.

School board members serve without a wage. How about the county commissioners doing without a wage? Both are in public service. School board members are unable to vote themselves a raise!

If President Eisenhower would have had this act of support during WWII, our country never would have won the war. Think!

Why should we provide inmates with a new county judicial center? If their living conditions aren't so good, maybe they'll think twice before committing another crime.

If certain city/county officials didn't make so much money, maybe we could come up with extra funds to help fix some of the problems.

Why is it some city employees can use city equipment and city time to clean their and their families' driveways when it snows? Our "tax" dollars at work?

Have school officials considered putting the band in the balcony at the MHS gym during home high school basketball games? Or at least move them back to the north side of the gym. Marion fans want to sit on the home team side, not the visitors' side.

We do not need a "grand" new jail on the property tax rolls. A way needs to be found to pay for a smaller jail (and a jail "only") without increases in property or sales taxes. The hospital was placed on the tax rolls several years ago and our property taxes have kept rising ever since. Why not tear the old jail and annex building down and build on the same land? Inmates would have to be housed out of county during this time. It could have three or four floors as needed and the exercise area could be a fenced-in area on top of the building. They do not need a sliding roof; some bad weather would help remind them why they are there. A room in this building could be used to provide live video feed of an inmate to the courtroom which would do away with some security issues with less courtroom visits. You see this done quite often on the Wichita TV news.

If the proposed Marion county judicial center was proposed for Hillsboro's business park, one wonders if the attitude in Hillsboro would be altered. Sadly, this might be a continuation of adolescent competition.

Learn from the mistakes of others, you can't live long enough to make them all yourself.

Congratulations Warriors! And congratulations Warrior fans and the fabulous student section that showed up Friday night to support the teams.
