A big thanks to former mayor Martin Tice for his leadership toward the future. I hope the new mayor, with the council, will continue making decisions for a positive, growing future of the whole community of Marion and not just listen to the loudest, squeaky wheel.

Marion's problem isn't that the newspaper editor would run a poor pep rally. Marion's problem is that immature public officials and wannabes seem to regard important things like community development as if they were juvenile pursuits, complete with high school silliness and cliques. We don't need more mindless cheerleaders. We need intelligent, hard-working professionals who will do more than gush about how wonderful everything is as they whimsically dole out taxpayer money to cronies.
