The student speakers and the number of scholarships awarded are to be praised. Obviously some students take advantage of their educational opportunity at Marion High School.

Marion High School commencement was very enjoyable, especially the vocal and band selections. The question is why, as the graduates are introduced, the absurd practice of announcing what each student's life plan is? At 18, who knows this for certain?

The gravel patches on Nighthawk Road are VERY dangerous for cars and trucks, even more so for motorcycles. It seems like there should be a better way to repair holes than patches of loose gravel.

The city of Marion tried to get a farmers market going and it didn't work. Know why? The booth fee was set too high. If we would price it reasonably like Hillsboro did, we would have successful sellers and local buyers boosting our city economy, just like Hillsboro. We priced ourselves out of the market by the city trying to make a killing and the sellers not making a profit from too high a booth fee. Pick an evening Monday through Thursday so folks can still vacation on weekends if they want (like Hillsboro does). Try it again, do it right this time, and it will work. Set a $5 booth fee. Sellers will show up and Marion will create a new thriving spring/summer event that benefits everyone.
