It was so nice of volunteers to empty the sand boxes at the county lake. It would be equally as nice if the county would get them filled with fresh sand. Summer is just beginning so please get it done!

Has anyone else noticed the abundance of unsupervised children between the ages of 4-9 at the park and around town? Some have cell phones, many are just on their own. With 12 registered offenders in this county is this good parenting? Dropping them off at the park with a cell phone doesn't constitute watching out for your kids. Is it legal? If you left a 6 or 7-year-old alone at home that would be neglect. How is dumping them at the park any better idea?

Leave the fireworks regulations as they are! It seems a few folks don't want others to have fun, even once a year. If they have "firecracker phobia" they can buy a cheap pair of ear plugs and/or hide in their homes. Let the rest of us have a good time celebrating the birth of our nation!
