It seems like the county is trying to deal with their salvage yard issues, now how about the city? There are numerous yards and lots in Marion that are starting to resemble junkyards. Is there a city ordinance that prohibits the number of vehicles one can accumulate on any given property?

Marion County Commissioners told the rest of us county employees that there is no money for merit raises or cost of living raises. Before we get our next raise, it will have been two years with no increase of any kind. Yet, the commission seems to be able to find money for Teresa Huffman. They changed her title and gave her a substantial raise. A few months later, they gave her another raise, increasing her salary from $29,500 to $40,000. I hope her salary increase helps her do a better job of promoting economic growth in Marion County so the rest of us can go find better-paying jobs. Jobs that are fair to all employees, not just commissioners' favorites.

". . . when we build — and I'm one of the few people in the world that actually builds these climate data sets — we don't see the catastrophic changes that are being promoted all over the place. For example, I suppose CNN did not announce two weeks ago when the Antarctic sea ice extent reached its all-time maximum . . ." John Christy of the U.N.'s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change is the co-recipient of this year's Nobel Peace Prize.

And since some desire to be so well-informed I just thought they also should know KDHE didn't block the plant, KDHE Secretary Bremby did. KDHE professional staff wanted the permit issued. So, thank you Rep. Dahl for standing up for rural Kansas economic development, unlike your Democratic counterparts in Topeka.
