Youth shooting sports program is offered

Youth ages eight to 18 are invited to participate in the youth shooting sports air rifle program beginning Sunday.

The program is designed to help youth develop life skills, learn firearm safety, and proper shooting techniques.

Wayne Weber, certified 4-H and NRA air rifle instructor, will teach the class.

The first class will be at 6 p.m. Sunday at the 4-H building on the Marion County Fairgrounds, Hillsboro. The class is scheduled to run four consecutive weeks and conclude June 24.

Adults are encouraged to attend with their youth.

Air rifles, safety glasses, ear protection, pellets, targets, and other class materials are provided. Youth are asked to bring a mat, blanket, or sleeping bag to lay on while shooting.

There is a $10 registration fee.

For more information contact the Marion County Extension office, 620-382-2325 or Weber at 620-382-2813.
