After five years in the Mid-Central Activities Association, Marion High School will be moving to the Heart of America League. The change will not take place until the 2010-11 season, making it a six-year run for MHS in the MCAA.

Darla and Eddie Spencer of Florence will fly to Las Vegas April 4 to attend the annual Academy of Country Music Awards show. Darla won the Vegas trip as grand prize when her name was drawn out of a hopper at radio station Kissin’ Country KZSN 102.1, Wichita.

The second annual John Waner Memorial Fishing Derby was Saturday at Marion County Lake. Tyler Ledford of Marion was the top fisherman catching 118 crappie and the largest fish.

Marlene and Reign Anduss have opened their new eating establishment at Freeborn and Main in Marion.

Marion High School drama department will present “Pure as the Driven Snow or the Working Girls’ Secret” at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the Performing Arts Center. Cast members are Megan Carter, Caroline Collett, Tim Costello, Denae Edwards, Alex Eurit, Sarah Guetersloh, Miller Hendrix, Brady Hudson, Brooke Johnson, Michael Kirkpatrick, Lexie Kruse, Anna Laurin, and Landon Leiker.
