An aerial tribute over Marion Tuesday afternoon will honor deceased veterans in recognition of Memorial Day. Tentative plans call for a flyover at 3:30 p.m. by a supersonic B-1B from McConnell Air Force Base, Wichita.

Matt Holub was selected student of the month by the Marion High School faculty. His parents are Allan and Dorothy Richmond and Pat and Linda Holub of Marion. He works at Marion Manufacturing and plans to attend Kansas State University to major in mechanical or electrical engineering.

John DeForest of Peabody is Amy Smith’s selection this week as a person who made a difference in their community. Not fully retired yet, DeForest, a farmer and businessman, keeps busy with community activities.
