The annual Hereford Show Day in Marion is Saturday. Eleven Marion County Hereford breeders are bringing at least 50 head into the show ring to be judged.

Capacity crowds jammed the city building auditorium Thursday and Friday nights for the annual Spring Show. There were two complete performances both nights with “standing room only” for all late-comers.

Marion Boy Scouts held their first campout of the season Friday night with 26 scouts spending the night on Dogfish Island. Harold Byram was camp director with Marvin Wunsch and Harold Shields as his assistants. Patrol advisers were Dan Brodhead, Dale Hobein, David Wheeler Jr., and Gordon Wingerd.

Edward W. Colburn, Marion, recently was initiated into Phi Delta Phi, professional law fraternity at the University of Kansas. Colburn is a first year law student at KU.

Seven Marion High School journalism students have been approved for membership in Quill and Scroll. The seven students are Verona Vinduska, Darlene Richmond, Norma Sly, Virginia Wright, Joyce Keazer, Lavere Metzler, and Donna Miesse.
