Centre's school board reports preliminary enrollment figures

Preliminary 2019-20 enrollment numbers for Centre were reported as follows at Monday’s board meeting: preschool, 6; kindergarten, 12; first grade, 10; second grade, 6; third grade, 14; fourth grade, 9; fifth grade, 12; sixth grade, 15; seventh grade, 11; eighth grade, 26; freshmen, 10; sophomores, 15; juniors, 21; and seniors, 17, for a total of 184 students.
Final numbers will be determined Sept. 20.
The board approved the purchase of two 3D printers at a cost not to exceed $12,000. The money will come from federal funding.
The board approved the employment of Ashley Hinkson as school nurse.
Updated food prices were approved: kindergarten through fifth grade breakfast, $1.90, and lunch, $2.65; sixth through 12th grade breakfast, $2, and lunch, $2.90; adult breakfast, $2.50, and lunch, $3.85.
At a hearing prior to the regular meeting, the board approved a 2019-20 budget of 40.543 mills.
Friday is the first day of school.
