Contract signed to buy former Pizza Hut

Staff writer

Lincolnville feedlot owner Mike Beneke will purchase the former Pizza Hut building on US-56 north of Marion.

The restaurant abruptly closed in the fall of 2016 after 22 years in Marion.

Beneke said he offered $24,000 cash for the property and plans to sell the lot on the north side to Jake Sigel.

Sigel confirmed he plans to purchase the north lot, but declined to say how he plans to use the property. Sigel is owner of American Nitrogen Rejection, LLC.

Beneke said the state has the property valued at $294,000.

He said he hopes to find a buyer who wants the building for a restaurant or other business.

Chris Gobel, asset director for Staab Management Co. of Grand Island, Nebraska, confirmed a sale contract was sent to Beneke for his signature.

“It will get it out of the hands of a big corporation,” Beneke said.
