Court official to lead judicial association

Nikki Davenport, administrator for the 8th Judicial District, which includes Marion County, has been elected president of the Kansas Association of District Court Clerks and Administrators.

The 8th Judicial District also includes Dickinson, Geary, and Morris counties.

“I look forward to upholding our association’s professional excellence, a goal that means so much to me, and to a great year ahead,” she said.

Davenport was court services officer for the 28th District, which includes Ottawa and Saline counties for two years, then transferred to the 8th District in 1999 and later was promoted to chief court services officer.

She said she has seen how the association has helped clerks and administrators connect and find ways to help court users.

“At our recent conference in Hays, I overheard clerks discussing their self-help centers with colleagues from other judicial districts,” she said. “They were sharing ideas and suggestions, and those often turn into real, local solutions.”

Before joining Kansas Association of District Court Clerks and Administrators, Davenport served on the board of the Kansas Association of Court Services Officers as secretary, vice president, and interim president.
