Goessel girls are lone victors

It’s was a tough slate of games for the girls teams this week with only Goesssel pulling off a victory
Ten players got into the scoring column for the Bluebirds at Wakefield, and the Bluebirds forced 32 turnovers as Goessel led 32-3 at halftime and coasted to a 42-7 victory.
Goessel (4-2 in league play) was led in scoring with Mackenzie Voth’s 11 points followed by Delaney Duerksen with 7 and Hailey Rosfeld with 6.
The Bluebirds (11-5 overall) will face Herington (5-10) Friday.
Hillsboro
Hillsboro lost 35-33 on the road Friday against Halstead, coming within one possession of giving Halstead its first loss of the season.
“Halstead is undefeated and we gave them everything we had Friday night, including a couple really bad turnovers late in the game,” coach Micah Ratzlaff said. “I was very pleased with our effort and fight in a very physical battle for four quarters.”
Hillsboro (11-4) will be at home this Friday against Smoky Valley (6-9).
“There are always things to work on and learn from individually and as a team that hopefully will make us stronger as we finish out the season,” Ratzlaff said.
Marion
Marion lost 72-12 Friday at Moundridge.
“Tonight was a struggle,” coach Jason Hett said. “Their speed, size, and athleticism really disrupted everything we tried to do.”
Kate Wessel led the in scoring with just four points.
“We will regroup and move on to knowing all our goals are still out in front of us,” Hett said.
The Warriors (10-8) will be at home Friday against Sedgwick (6-11). Marion will crown its homecoming king and queen after the game.
Peabody-Burns
The Warriors lost 61-18 at home Friday to Canton Galva.
Adyson Winter led the team with eight points.
The Warriors are scheduled to play a makeup game Thursday at home against Solomon. On Friday, Peabody-Burns (1-13) will travel to Centre (5-11).
Centre
The Cougars had the toughest opponent they would face this season, Little River, and lost 91-13 Friday night.
Centre (5-11) will be looking to bounce back Friday at home against Peabody-Burns (1-13). Centre will crown its homecoming king and queen after the game.
