Larry Larsen
Services for Larry Kent Larsen, 74, Peabody, who died May 6, two days after being injured by a horse, will be 1 p.m. Friday at Peabody United Methodist Church.
Relatives will gather with friends in the church basement afterward. Private burial will be later.
Born June 19, 1950, in Marion to Don and Jacquie Larsen, he spent his early years in rural Peabody then moved to Livermore, California, where he graduated from high school and enlisted in the Air Force, serving in Vietnam and Guam.
Upon his return, he married Susan Yung and eventually moved back to Kansas to run his family’s farm. The couple divorced, and in 1992 he married Karen Davis in Council Grove.
He served as a paramedic in Sedgwick and Marion Counties and for LifeTeam ambulance flights for more than 38 years. He also was an emergency medical services instructor for 20 years.
After retiring, he began work for Emberhope, a youth foster care organization in Newton.
Survivors include his wife, Karen, and children Krissy Lovett of Haysville; Becky Tibbetts of Hillsboro; Lucas Larsen, Kiefer Larsen, and Brianna Bartling of Peabody; and Xavier Jabary of Kansas City, Missouri.
Also surviving are sister Karen Sweet of Livermore; brother Jon Larsen of Ada, Oklahoma; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A memorial fund has been established in care of Jost Funeral Home, PO Box 266, Hillsboro KS 67063.
