Marion boys finish 5th at Wamego

Hillsboro, Marion, and Centre runners ventured to Wamego on Saturday.

Marion placed fifth out of 22 teams in 1-3A competition. Marion’s girls were 10th out of 15 teams.

Top finishers individually were Eli Klenda, ninth, and Brooklyn Beery, 28th.

For Hillsboro, Riley Richert pleaced 10th placed, and Quinlyn Funk was 17th place.

“We didn’t place / perform as well as we would have liked, but these kids continue to be there and go to work every day,” Centre coach Caleb Reimer said. “We’re a young group, so we’re getting better every week at running.”

The next meet for all three schools will be Thursday at Herington.

Eli Gaeddert won his event in the small-school division and surpassed all runners, even in the large-school division, with a time of 17:52.50.

Aidan Impson was seventh.

Madelyn Olson had the best time for Bluebird girls with 27:51.60 and a 15th place finish.
