Pets perish, charity sought after Burns fire

Del and Tracy Lowe lost their two-story home and everything inside in a fire at 11:21 a.m. Thursday at 20th and Yarrow Rds..

Their beloved cats and dogs also died in the fire.

A friend, Eileen Savage, opened an account at Community National Bank in Burns to help the Lowes.

Savage said the Lowes were pillars of her community and had stepped in to help others in the past when needed.

Donated items are being accepted, but physical donations need to be housed at another property until the Lowes have rebuilt.

Burns, Florence, Peabody and Whitewater firefighters fought the blaze for two hours.

Marion ambulance and the county emergency manager also responded to the fire.
