Activity reports

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded.

Hillsboro

June 29 – A motorist was cited for having no interlock device, no insurance, and no brake light.

June 30 – A traffic complaint on US-56 was investigated but no action was taken.

July 1 – A disturbance reported in the 300 block of W. 3rd St. was found to be a person making noise while working out. A motorist was warned for speeding at US-56 and Orchard Dr.

Thursday – Suspicious activity near Parkside Homes was investigated. A noninjury accident on private property was investigated.

Friday – A motorist was warned for failing to stop at a stop sign at Ash and 3rd Sts. A resident was warned about parking violations and for having loose dogs in the 300 block of N. Madison St.

Saturday – A motorist was cited for having an illegal vehicle tag at Ash and A Sts. A possibly sick raccoon reported in the 200 block of E. 1st St. could not be found. A broken house window was reported in the 300 block of N. Lincoln St. A dog running free in the 600 block of W. 2nd St. was picked up and taken to Hillsboro Animal Clinic.

Sunday – A found wallet was returned to its owner. Fireworks being shot off in the 300 block of S. Cedar St. reportedly damaged the vinyl roof of a Jeep. The people who shot the fireworks agreed to pay for the damage. Firework complaints were made in the 300 block of N. Lincoln St. and the 200 block of S. Jefferson St.

MARION

June 29 — A motorist was ticketed for driving 47 mph in a 30-mph zone in the 1000 block of N. Cedar St.. A disturbance in the 200 block of S. 3rd St. was investigated. An accident at 3rd and Santa Fe Sts. was reported after the fact. Illegal discharge of fireworks in the 600 block of S. Cedar St. prompted a warning. A report of a person falling in the 100 block of Eisenhower Dr. was investigated.

June 30 — A driving complaint in the 300 block of N. Cedar St. and a report of a scam were investigated.

July 1 — No action was taken about a disturbance reported in the 300 block of N. Roosevelt St. Officers met with residents about suspicious activity the previous night and with a business about an abandoned vehicle on its property.

Thursday — A suspicious vehicle reported in the 500 block of Walnut St. was not found. A theft was reported in the 200 block of Garfield St. A motorist who had been reported to be driving recklessly on K-150 was stopped and ticketed for allegedly going 103 mph in a 65-mph zone at US-56 and Timber Rd. A motorist was warned for not having a license plate light at Main and Coble Sts.

Friday — Investigating a report of a possibly intoxicated driver, officers found a parked vehicle and learned that the driver had asked someone to provide a ride. Seven residents were warned for discharging fireworks after hours. One fireworks complaint was phoned in.

Saturday — A vehicle reportedly blocking an alley in the 700 block of S. Cedar St. was not found. Officers questioned a young adult who apparently had suffered burns from fireworks. A motorist was warned for operating a special purpose vehicle after hours. A Hillsboro resident was driven home.

Sunday — Officers provided traffic control for a large snapping turtle crossing the 500 block of E. Main St. and warned a resident about shooting fireworks after days designated for fireworks had ended.

Peabody

July 1 – Donald Miller, Peabody, was arrested on a warrant and released before being jailed.
