ACTIVITY REPORTS

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.

HILLSBORO

May 6 — Police directed traffic after a cow ventured onto US-56 at Jade Rd. They also helped a homeless person obtain transportation to Wichita to receive services. A dog picked up at Ampride was taken to the police station and later returned to its owner.

May 7 — Police spoke to a child at a parent’s request.

May 8 — A resident of the 200 block of S. Washington St. met with police about tenant issues. Another resident talked to police about issues involving a dog. A child playing with a phone was blamed for a disconnected 911 call from the 600 block of E. E St. Police conferred with a parent about an unspecified incident at Memorial Park.

Thursday — Drugs, alcohol, and an explosive were discovered during the arrest of a man wanted for failing to appear in court. (See Offenses Reported.) A vehicle hit a gas meter in the 700 block of W. Grand Ave. (See Accidents Reported.) Police directed traffic for a semi-trailer truck unloading products at Ash and 3rd Sts.

Friday — Theft of a ratchet set and a Bluetooth speaker from a pickup truck was reported. (See Offenses Reported.) A driver was ticketed for speeding on US-56. Other drivers were warned for speeding in the 900 block of E. D St. and on 190th Rd. just west of town and for failing to yield to pedestrians at Lincoln and D Sts. Police followed up on a parking complaint at Grand Ave. and Ash St.

Saturday — Two handguns were reported stolen. (See Offenses Reported.) A driver was ticketed for speeding on US-56, and another was warned for speeding on 190th Rd. west of town. Police met with a resident in the 200 block of S. Washington St. about a civil issue. No problems were found in checking on the welfare of a resident of the 400 block of N. Adams St.

Sunday — Jumper cables, tools, and a jacket were stolen from a vehicle. (See Offenses Reported.)

Monday — Police investigated a series of six or more vehicle burglaries and chased a stolen vehicle through town. (See news story.)

MARION

May 6 — Police investigated a report of a threat at Casey’s General Store but determined no crime had been committed. No offense report was released regarding a mailbox run over in the 200 block of S. Freeborn St. A driver was warned for speeding at US-56 and Cedar St.

May 7 — Two drivers were warned for speeding at US-56 and Cedar St.

May 8 — No problems were found in investigating a report of animal abuse at Central Park.

Thursday — Police followed up on an undisclosed theft case. Police investigated a report of harassment in the 400 block of S. Roosevelt St. but determined no crime had been committed.

Friday — Trespassing was reported in the 100 block of N. Roosevelt St. Drivers were warned about equipment violations at Main and Roosevelt St. and twice at US-56 and Cedar St.

Saturday — No problems were found in checking on a disturbance in the 200 block of Miller St. Drivers were warned about an equipment violation at Main and 1st Sts. and for speeding at US-56 and Industrial St. and at US-56 and Cedar St.

Sunday — Police assisted El Dorado police with an undisclosed matter at St. Luke Hospital. A driver at Main and Elm Sts. was warned about an equipment violation.

PEABODY

May 8 — Reports of a dog loose in the 400 block of Sycamore St., of another barking in the 400 block of Vine St., and of excessive noise in the 500 block of Vine St. were investigated.

Thursday — A non-injury accident in the high school parking lot was investigated; no report was released.

Friday — Police investigated a report of a child who might have run away at City Park.

Saturday — A woman climbing over a fence was found to be a tenant of the property. A missing child was found at City Park. A resident complained about a barking dog the 500 block of Vine St.

Sunday — A driver was stopped for an unspecified reason in the 200 block of Walnut St
