State forensics meet draws 35 schools

Staff writer

The state 2A forensics tournament Saturday at Marion drew 258 contestants from 25 schools.

Students from Marion and Hillsboro schools were among them.

Students prepared some presentations in advance and drew subjects for impromptu contests. Competitions were in rooms of the elementary school and educational co-operative.

Students waited outside the rooms for their turns to compete while others competed inside. Waiting students talked to each other and watched the competition through windows. Some practiced their presentations.

Five elementary rooms were used for prose presentations, 11 for poetry, 15 for improvised duet acting, six for serious solo acting, and four for duet acting.

One competitor was so happy after performing she skipped down the hallway to her next competition.
