Susan Hein

A memorial service for Susan Anne Hein, 74, Hillsboro, who died July 7, will be 11 a.m. Friday at Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Church.

Burial will be an hour before the service at the church cemetery. A light lunch will follow the service at the church fellowship hall.

Visitation will be 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the church.

Born Aug. 8, 1951, to Sherman and Zeffie Marler, she grew up in Marion, graduated from Marion High School in 1969, and was a member of Marion Christian Church during high school.

She married Rodney Hein on Oct. 4, 1969, and moved to a farm. Outside the home, she worked at a craft store, in food service jobs, and for 10 years as a manager at McDonald’s. She also taught Sunday school and Wednesday night classes at Hillsboro MB Church.

Survivors include her husband of the home; daughters Lori Makovec and Juli Pankratz, son Kerry Hein, brother Doug Marler, sister Sandy Clemmer, seven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

A memorial has been established with the church.
