In the last game of the regular season, Marion run-ruled Herington 15-0 after 3 innings.
Somehow, Marion scored 15 runs with just three hits total. Kadon Mercer is credited with two hits, and Jameson Looper had the other.
Herington’s pitcher was in a bad place, throwing wild pitch after wild pitch.
Looper had one hit but touched home three times. Carson Krause touched home three times with zero hits.
Everyone on Marion’s bench scored at least one run.
Marion’s starter, Lander Smith, blanked Herington’s offense.
With the regular season over, post-season play will starts today. Marion will be host for part of the 2-1A regionals.
Marion (11-13) will open up the bracket as the No. 7 seed. The Warriors will face a tough test against No. 2 seed Little River (19-3).
Hillsboro
Both boys and girls lost Friday at Pratt in their final games of the regular season.
Hillsboro boys and girls will be split in postseason play. The boys will be playing in the Class 3A bracket Friday in Silver Lake this Friday. The girls will be playing in the Class 2-1A regional bracket Monday in Moundridge.
The boys (7-16) are the No. 7 seed and will play No. 2 seed and host Silver Lake (18-6) at 5 p.m.
Seeding for softball had not been posted as of Tuesday.
