A new barbershop has opened in Marion, located in the Elgin Hotel. The shop is operated by Rufus E. Nidiffer. The Elgin Barber Shop was formerly operated by Bill Fiedler who moved to Moundridge several months ago.
Another new business, Swift Carpet Sales and Service, has opened in Marion in the east half of the building formerly occupied by DeForest Hatcheries. The business will be operated by Dale Helms and Irish Ward.
Bruce Alan Taylor celebrated his 4th birthday Oct. 18 with a party at his home. Friends present were Greg Vogel, Roger Johnson, Scott Miesse, Mike Klose, Brad and Doug Heerey, Rhonda and Rodney Richmond, Tim and Ann Christensen, and Claire Lynn, Sue and Patti Fruechting.
Sixty-five members of the Baby Alumni Association of St. Luke Hospital enjoyed an annual get-together Oct. 21 at the city building. Mothers and children alike enjoyed a program presented by 36 kindergarten pupils under the direction of their teacher, Jane Adams.
Teresa Case was guest of honor Monday afternoon at the Case home in celebration of her sixth birthday. Guests were Becky Wood, Christine Vogt, Diana Case, Lisa Holmes, Cheryl Cox, Marty Kae Beaston, Kendra Lundgren, Dotty Lentz, Cynthia Swain, Theresa Turk, and Teresa’s brother and sister, Brad and Tammie Case.
