CENTRE:   Centre Junior High teams win some, lose some

The Centre Junior High School boys basketball team split two games during the past two weeks. They were defeated Jan. 14 at home by Hope, 34-32, in a matchup that went into overtime. Centre led all the way until the fourth quarter, when the Lions outscored the Cougars 10-6 to tie the game at 29-all.

Cacey Simons scored all of Centre’s three points in the overtime and led overall with 13 points. Kyle Methvin scored nine points.

Centre vs. White City

The Cougars traveled to White City Thursday and defeated the Huskies in another close matchup, 25-24.

Grant Srajer scored seven points, and Simons and Methvin scored six points each.

CJHS girls defeated White City Thursday on the road, 27-23. Centre trailed 12-10 at halftime and 20-19 after three quarters. However, the Lady Cougars outscored White City 8-3 in the final quarter to win by four points.

Cacey Simons led Centre’s scoring with 10 points. Shelby Makovec scored seven, Bryanna Svoboda six, and Makenzie Deines four.

CJHS vs. Hope

The varsity gained an easy victory Jan 14, playing at home against Hope. They won, 54-9.

Amy Makovec and Simons led scoring with 12 points each. Other scorers were Shelby Makovec and Calvert, six points each; Shields, Kassebaum, Deines, and Svoboda, four each; and Callie Riffel, two.
